Bringing home a new baby is a blur of love, change, and trying to soak in every detail. My goal as a lifestyle newborn photographer is to give families a calm space to press pause and document this incredibly special season. If you’re in Sanford, Fort Bragg, or the greater Raleigh area and looking for simple, natural newborn photos, here’s a look at what you can expect from your session in my studio.
My studio in Sanford, North Carolina is quiet, comfortable, and intentionally styled for newborn photography. You don’t need to stress about prepping your home or wondering if your space gets enough light. Everything is already set up to make things easy for you.
There’s a cozy area for nursing or bottle feeding, a changing table stocked with essentials, and a clean, neutral setup that keeps the focus where it belongs—on your baby and your connection as a family.
The best time to book your newborn session is during your second trimester. We’ll schedule your spot based on your due date, and once your baby arrives, we’ll finalize a date for the session. I typically photograph newborns between 5 and 21 days old, but lifestyle sessions are flexible. If your baby is a little older, that’s completely fine. The goal is to capture them in your arms—tiny, sleepy, and still so new.
If you’re preparing to welcome your baby and want to feel more confident in the early days, UNC Health offers helpful newborn care resources for new parents across central North Carolina.
Sessions usually take about 1-2 hours. That gives us plenty of time for feeding breaks, diaper changes, and soothing if needed. These sessions are completely baby-led. We move slowly and keep things relaxed so your little one stays comfortable and you never feel rushed.
I always recommend soft, neutral tones—creams, taupes, soft blues, and earth tones photograph beautifully and keep the images feeling timeless. You don’t have to dress up or wear anything uncomfortable. I also have outfits, swaddles, and accessories for the baby.
If you’re unsure about what to wear, I’m happy to help with styling ahead of time. My goal is for you to look like yourself—just a little more polished, and completely at ease.
My newborn sessions are designed for real connection. Partners and siblings are always welcome, unless you specifically want to book a baby-only session. Some of the most meaningful photos are the in-between moments: an older sibling gently touching the baby’s hair, or a quiet moment of eye contact between mom and dad. These are the images you can hold onto forever.
Lifestyle newborn photography focuses on natural posing and real emotion. I’ll guide you into good light and gently direct you so you never feel awkward in front of the camera. But nothing will feel stiff or over-posed.
You’ll receive a mix of images, including:
Every session is unique to your family. No two galleries look exactly alike because no two babies—or parents—are exactly the same.
Your fully edited gallery will be delivered online within about 2 to 3 weeks. From there, you’ll be able to choose your favorite images and order prints or albums if you’d like. All images are delivered in high resolution and ready for both printing and sharing.
My studio is conveniently located in Sanford, NC, making it easy to reach from Fayetteville, Fort Bragg, Southern Pines, and Raleigh. I work with families all across central North Carolina who want natural newborn photos without the pressure of an in-home session. If you’re nearby and looking for a photographer who values authenticity, comfort, and connection, I’d love to work with you.
If you’re expecting and thinking about newborn photos, it’s never too early to reach out. I only take a limited number of sessions each month to make sure every family has the time and attention they deserve.
